Has it been Two Years? A Look at the First Apple iPhones
Two years ago today, the first apple iPhones went on sale, hard to believe huh? Apple had announced in January of 2007 that they would release this new iPhone in June of 2007 and for a ridiculous price of $599 for the 8G. Of course, consumers jumped at the chance to have this awesome new touch iPhone that not only is a phone, but holds your music, full internet access and several fun apps that you could download, the first of its kind.
I remember my boyfriend at the time wanted this new iPhone so badly, but because they were so expensive, he could not justify buying one, plus he was sure that Apple would come out with a newer version and for probably less money (he was right). His friend ended up buying him one as a thank you gift for helping him work on his house, so he got to play around with the first generation iPhone, and it was cool. Everyone was jealous of him, including me. We would play on his iPhone for hours, just listening to music, checking out how great his internet access was and playing hangman. He had to get the light saber app, and the beer chugging app and all those other silly apps. The one thing that I did not like about his iPhone was that because it was all touch screen, the keyboard was harder to use, easier to hit the wrong letter, but he assured me you would get used to it, and I did. His first generation iPhone also seemed to lose battery life fast.
Since the first generation iPhone, they have come out with the iPhone 3G (which I currently have) which was released on July 11, 2008. The newer version of the iPhone included 3G speed internet and GPS with a much lower price than the first generation iPhones, with the battery life lasting much longer than the first generation iPhone. In June of 2009, Apple released an upgraded version that iPhone users could download called the iPhone OS. This improved the iPhone quite a bit (landscaped text messaging, better calendar views, spotlight search) while also adding in a new app specifically for the iPhone/iTouch called Voice Memos, which seemes to increase your iPhone/iTouch speakers. You can also send and receive picture messages via MMS messaging, instead of having to send them via email (one thing out of a few on why I was unsatisfied with the iPhone. The others being no flash on the camera and no video), something I still need to figure out. You can also cut, copy and paste on this new updated version of the iPhone.
For all those people who have waited so long to get an iPhone but haven’t yet, now is the best time to buy the iPhone 3G, since Apple has lowered the price to $99 (I bought mine for $199). You can also buy the newest version of Apple iPhone, which is the 3GS (starting at $199) that arrived in stores on June 8, 2009. This new 3GS iPhone is supposed to have video recording, voice control and 32GB more of storage. What are you waiting for?
